Palestinian-American Adolescent Liberated Following Nine Months in Israel's Detention

An American-Palestinian teenager having endured nine months in Israeli detention without being charged was released.

Mohammed Ibrahim was fifteen years old during his detention in February in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, while he was vacationing on holiday from Florida for allegedly throwing stones toward Israeli settlers, claims he consistently denied.

United States authorities said it welcomed the teenager's freedom.

Currently aged sixteen, was taken to hospital right after being freed, relatives told the media.

Family described him as pale, underweight, while battling health issues acquired while detained.

In a statement, family spokesperson expressed the family's "tremendous relief".

The uncle, Zeyad Kadur stated the family experienced "enduring a dreadful, continuous nightmare" over the last nine months.

"Currently, we're concentrating on providing Mohammed with urgent medical care he requires after being subjected to mistreatment by authorities and brutal treatment over several months."

US officials said it would continue to extend consular services for the Ibrahim family.

{"The Trump Administration gives utmost importance to ensuring the safety of American nationals"," it added.

Several congressional representatives submitted a formal letter to diplomatic officials and the administration, demanding more be done for his freedom.

Mr Ibrahim, with four children operating an ice cream shop in Florida, had earlier stated his son only confessed regarding stone throwing after being assaulted by soldiers.

The father hadn't visited or communicated with his son since the arrest, receiving updates exclusively what had happened to him via legal paperwork.

The teenager remained without charge within Ofer penitentiary on the West Bank.

Additionally housing adult prisoners, some of whom have been convicted for major terrorist activities and homicide.

Approximately 350 Palestinian minors in security custody currently imprisoned in Israel, according to the Israeli Prison Service.

Numerous remain uncharged and human rights groups, and international organizations, document cases involving mistreatment and torture.

Following Mohammed's release, Mr Kadur said relatives would persist in advocating seeking justice for their relative their cousin Sayfollah.

The 20-year-old dual US citizen according to health authorities died from beating by settlement residents during a confrontation last July.

During that period, the Israeli military said officials were investigating reports a Palestinian civilian had died.

Mohammed and Sayfollah had worked together in the family ice cream shop from Tampa.

No one has been charged for the cousin's murder.

"We expect United States leadership to protect our families," family representatives emphasized.
