That will not be happening during this tour, after Australia's crushing 82-run win in Adelaide left the home side with a 3-0 lead for the fourth consecutive series on Australian grounds.

The loyal traveling fans, the organized fan base, have 3,000 fans traveling for the final two Tests in Sydney and Melbourne.

In addition, there are tour groups who will spend the Christmas period overseas, as well as loved ones heading for a once-in-a-lifetime trip.

Fans with Booked Tickets

The Ryding siblings are four such fans.

The four siblings had their itineraries and entry credentials booked for the Melbourne and Sydney matches "well ahead of time", anticipating a rare England series success.

Sadly, they've observed Australia dismantle the tourists in just a short period from their family home in the north of England.

"Everyone at work has been making comments that the series is done for the last two weeks," commented one sibling.

"Our expectation had been that we would have the series on the line still when we got there."

Diminishing Hope

There was plenty of positivity concerning a potential victory of ending their 15-year wait for a series win in Australia ahead of the tour.

However, the situation is now facing the prospect of continuing a barren spell in the country to 19 consecutive Tests when the fourth Test gets under way in the MCG on Christmas Day.

Ben Stokes' side - and their supporters - will be keen to prevent a whitewash.

One sibling noted the "thrill and enjoyment" of head coach the positive style of play in the past couple of seasons had "reinvigorated" the five-day game for followers of the team.

However, the group said they had low expectations for the fourth and fifth Tests - and all they are hoping for from the players is "some resilience".

"Every pundit references this, but it all hinges on fortitude. 'The aggressive approach has been elevated to a term now that is just, like, unrealistic play," commented another sibling.

"During a long match, you should dig in. Chasing balls 'wide of off stump has never been in the coaching manuals, and that is primarily due to the top order."

Future Prospects

Asked whether he believed England will win a match in this contest, one fan responded: "The evidence suggests the Aussies are just too good currently."

"Necessarily, there must be several individuals that makes a significant contribution and makes a big impact."

Despite the scoreline, the fans are excited about the trip.

"We are going to have a wonderful trip regardless," said Katie. "We must adopt that outlook."

"Of course, it's a let-down we aren't fighting for more, but we have spent so much money as it is."

"We plan to savor spending the festive season overseas. It is also mine and Rory's first time traveling over Christmas."

A teacher, Katie is intent on maximizing the lengthy journey as part of her Christmas holidays.

"If all else fails, I can play golf to fall back on," she added.
