For a long time, president after president has strived to rid the United States of its image as a domineering, expansionist nation. Yet with his blustering, frequently aggressive actions toward other countries, Donald Trump has rapidly reawakened that concept. During his tenure, the unpleasant American image is returned.

Assertive Application of Power

He achieved this by wielding U.S. authority in assertive and arrogant ways – by condemning other countries’ policies and then promising to punish them if they don’t bow to his demands.
