Alexander Zverev Faces Auger-Aliassime in ATP World Tour Finals Showdown
Preamble
The occupational hazards of round-robin tennis mean during this phase of the ATP World Tour Finals viewers are commonly puzzled, scrambling about for a mathematical tool and trying to work out the brain-busting permutations of qualification. But today's game between Alexander Zverev and Felix Auger-Aliassime, fortunately, is easy. It's a direct elimination: the victor secures a semifinal contest against Alcaraz at this year-end tournament; the defeated player is eliminated.
Zverev is the predicted winner for this: the world No 3 is the more experienced competitor, has previously won at this competition previously on two instances and leads their head-to-head 6-3, having won both their previous matches on an enclosed hard court.
However … this particular court on which Auger-Aliassime has claimed the majority of his titles, he’s riding a high after his impressive recovery against Ben Shelton on recently and he took out the German in the US Open early stage in August. Furthermore, the court pace is quicker in the host city than at Flushing Meadows, which works even more in the Canadian's favor.
If the German player is reserved, like he was against the Italian, and the Canadian presses the European player with his effective service game and bold strategy, there is a strong chance the North American athlete – the former prodigy who was previously positioned in front of the Spanish and Italian stars to succeed the Big Three – who earns the uncertain distinction of playing against the top-ranked player the next day.
The match starts: at approximately 8:30 PM in Turin, 19:30 Greenwich Mean Time.
